Branding can take some time, patience, attention, and of course multiple channels to be effective. One often overlooked method of branding and a very useful marketing channel is to guest blog or create a blogger outreach campaign. Before we talk about branding through blogger outreach, let’s take a quick look at what blogger outreach is.

What is Blogger Outreach?

Blogger outreach campaigns are campaigns where you seek to gain exposure for your products or services. Usually, though not always, you’ll seek exposure for a specific product or service. You reach out to influencers in your industry and ask them to write about or share their thoughts on your products or services.

Essentially, you’re reaching out to folks and asking them to promote your products or services. What do they have to gain? You’ll give them free access to the products or services. You might also promote them in exchange. And occasionally you might provide them with some sort of remuneration.

So How Do You Brand Your Business with Blogger Outreach?

The first tactic or best practice may sound obvious, but when branding your business with outreach you’ll want to make sure you’re connecting with influencers (people with a large blog or social following) that will make you look good. They should support your brand, rather than detract from it. Makes sense, right? Do a bit of digging and follow a blogger before you reach out to them to promote your business products, services, or promotions.

Make sure they link to your site. Again, this may sound obvious, but major brands who have tons of marketing power behind them often forget this step. If a blogger is going to talk about your products or services, there should absolutely be a link to your site in their content. If they don’t, a simple reminder or request can fix it for you.

Relevancy. Not only do you want to make sure any given blogger is going to boost your brand, you also want to make sure they’re relevant to your audience. If you’re a crafting blogger but you have a sports nutrition blogger talk about your products or services it just won’t connect with their audience. It won’t build your brand.

Branding through blogging outreach isn’t difficult, but it does take some planning and attention. Before you reach out to a dozen bloggers to ask them to promote your new book, make sure they fit your audience profile, that you want them actually representing you, and that it makes sense for your business and branding goals.
