The new regulations narrowly passed the vote in the US Senate – by 50 votes to 48 – to repeal the Obama-era privacy regulations. According to the new regulations, ISPs can now sell user data to whoever they want to.
Speaking of the decision, Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell described the regulation as having created “an uneven playing field”, where its “complexity discourages competition, innovation and infrastructure investment”.
