Rugged Bear Chooses Michigan Based Brand Labs To Build New Volusion Site

East Coast children's clothing manufacturer and retail chain, The Rugged Bear, has launched a new eCommerce site on the Volusion platform. Michigan-based eCommerce specialists, Brand Labs, were chosen to design and implement the online store.

Rochester, MI, May 27, 2010 - The Rugged Bear, a chain of brick and mortar clothing stores specializing in outdoorwear for children (including their own brand), has just launched an expanded and redesigned eCommerce site, intended to broaden its presence in the national marketplace. To take on the task of online rebranding and site implementation, Rugged Bear tapped Brand Labs, Volusion eCommerce design and marketing specialists.

"Rugged Bear and Brand Labs are a perfect fit," explained Brand Labs' president, Kevin Harman. "They're a well-established brand, but until now, their online presence has operated largely in support of their brick and mortar operations, as opposed to being a powerful, independent eCommerce destination. The new site is a tribute to the strength and history of the brand, but recognizes the importance of online sales, even for established B&M retailers."

Founded in 1980, Rugged Bear has grown to include 29 locations up and down the East Coast. Several additional locations are currently in the planning stages.

"The new site is like Rugged Bear's 30th location," continued Harman. "It was our goal to make it as integral to their brand identity as their real-world stores, and to ultimately become their flagship store."

The Rugged Bear's annual revenue is estimated between $20 and 30 million. In February of 2010, The Rugged Bear was acquired by Detwiler Fenton Group. Brand Labs is privately held and specializes in eCommerce design, consultation and marketing.
