Open Letter From DigitEYE Lamp & Scanner Inventor to First Users and Supporters
DigitEYE has been designed by Ilya Evdokimov and his team for home and office desk lighting and document scanning automation. DigitEYE includes OCR and automated workflows to simplify paper management and provided everyone with a paperles office.

It is a modern, compact, and eco-friendly desktop lamp; it is also a powerful, unobtrusive document scanner with software powered by the latest state of the art technology for document scanning, storage and management of paperless office.
The inspiration came from my own first-hand experience, and those shared by my clients. We frequently find ourselves needing or wanting to print, sign, scan, email, and file agreements, articles, business cards, expense reports, and utility bills at home or office. Our desks are cluttered with reports, receipts, and other papers we don’t need at the moment, but aren’t ready to throw away just yet.
I designed DigitEYE primarily for myself and my scanning needs, how I would want a document scanner to work for me.

For many years I had a small scanner on my desk. These desktop scanners range in cost from $500 (Fujitsu ScanSnap) to $1,200 (Kodak i1220) and require manual precise feed of paper while taking up valuable desktop space in front and around. They are challenging to use with irregular-shape documents such as receipts and business cards, and they are unable to scan books, magazines and stapled reports. Additionally, these scanners are powered by software that requires numerous clicks and specialized user knowledge to achieve good results. It took me, a scanning expert, 1 minute 34 seconds to scan, save and e-mail a 4-page NDA, which required waiting for the scanner lamp to warm up and about 12 clicks. I always wanted to do the same action with one click and 10 seconds.
There has to be a better way!
For the past 8 months I conceptualized, designed, prototyped and tested numerous automation options relying on 17 years of my experience in document scanning and workflow automation. DigitEYE was born. We worked with manufacturers to design and produce our latest scanner design after a half dozen of iterations. Our Ph.D. researchers and a team of 11 developers from around the world pooled the knowledge of image processing, document scanning and workflow automation into one comprehensive software solution.
