Jobspeaker and Bakersfield College have joined forces to make job seeking easier and mobile for students. Bakersfield College offers degrees and certificate programs from agriculture to social science that will provide a skilled and trained workforce for the community and region at large. Bakersfield College supports students through their Learning & Career Pathways approach to keep students on track in their skills development for their chosen field.

As a skills-based education to employment platform, Jobspeaker helps Bakersfield College easily manage and keep track of their students/alumni progress on their learning and career pathway. Through the mobile app, Jobspeaker provides students equitable access to employers, resume support, work-based learning opportunities, current information on job openings, and the status of their application and interviews.

[Jobspeaker] provides students [the opportunity] to apply for jobs 24 hours a day through the mobile app. Students don't have to be at a computer at home, but if they have a smart phone, the student can review their Jobspeaker profile, apply for jobs while sipping coffee at Starbucks. Jobspeaker works for our campus in providing what is needed.

Bakersfield College has been (and is already seeing) a significant uptick in student engagement around career preparation and increasing equity in providing access to employment. The data collected through this engagement in the job market helps Bakersfield college validate the work they are doing to develop the region’s workforce for the region’s employers. As an added result, it helps Bakersfield College earn more incentive funding from the state through the Strong Workforce Program.

Bakersfield College is also a member of the Central/Mother Lode Regional Consortium (CRC) of fourteen community colleges in the Central Valley. Jobspeaker has partnered with CRC to make the platform available to consortium members.
