Free VA Housing Summit for Veterans and Military Families - Saturday November 12 - Central Florida

Orlando, Florida, November 10, 2016 (Newswire.com) - On Saturday, November 12th, the nonprofit organization, Veterans Association of Real Estate Professionals (VAREP), will be hosting a free housing summit that will educate veterans and military families on the different financial programs available in Central Florida.
Many veterans and active duty members don’t know there are local, state and federal VA programs that can help veterans and military families get into a home with no money down. The federal government also provides financial down payment assistance programs for veterans and families who qualify.
"This free VA Housing Summit is a great way for veterans and active military families to learn about the different financial options that are a part of their benefits for serving our country. We will have volunteers at the event to answer questions. And for those with poor credit, we will also have counselors on hand to help people learn how they can rebuilt their credit."

For example, the VA loan can eliminate mortgage insurance, also known as PMI, which can cost a few hundreds dollars a month. It can also eliminate property taxes for disabled veterans who qualify and provide down payment financial assistance for veterans and military families who need help with closing costs.
The Special Adaptation Housing Program can provide veterans up to $34,000 dollars in grant money for remodeling or buying a home. Another VA government program provides disabled veterans up to $74,000 dollars for remodeling a home. The Home Improvement Structural Alterations (HISA) provides up to $8,000 dollars in grants.
Saturday's VA Housing Summit will educate veterans and military families on all of these VA programs.
"This free VA Housing Summit is a great way for veterans and military families to learn about the different financial options that are a part of their benefits for serving our country," said Keith Jackson, the VAREP chapter leader for Central Florida. "We will have volunteers at the event to answer questions. And for those with poor credit, we will also have counselors on hand to help people learn how they can rebuild their credit."
