Attorney Natalie Khawam of the Whistleblower Law Firm Wins Appeal for Veteran Gunnery Sergeant Peter Nolan

The Whistleblower Law Firm, P.A. is pleased to announce that the appeal filed by Attorney Natalie Khawam, was successful in favor of her client Gunnery Sgt. Peter Nolan. The Board for Correction of Naval Records reviewed Gunnery Sgt. Peter Nolan's appeal and determined that his naval record needs to be corrected and he is now entitled to receive his disability income, healthcare benefits, and back pay too.

Gunnery Sgt. Peter Nolan, a 17-year Marine, was found 100 percent disabled from his injuries suffered during Iraqi Freedom and was later deemed unfit for service due to traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as his bodily injuries too. Initially, a Department of Defense Physical Evaluation Board improperly claimed he was only 10 percent disabled and unfit for duty, causing Sgt. Nolan to lose his income, his insurance benefits, and healthcare benefits. Unable to serve, the Marine Corps discharged Gunnery Sgt. Nolan.

Attorney Natalie Khawam filed an appeal with the Board for Correction of Naval Records. Khawam filed his appeal Pro Bono on behalf of Sgt. Nolan. Thanks to the successful appeal, Sgt. Nolan is now to be placed back on the disability retirement list. Khawam is passionate about representing Veterans. Natalie said, "He's broken. He needs to receive the medical care and benefits that he deserves. On behalf of my client and his family, we are very pleased with this positive decision.”

Ms. Khawam exclusively practices Federal law, with a focus on whistleblower laws. Veterans and their families are of the utmost importance to Natalie, who believes in protecting the heroes who fought and sacrificed their lives for our country.
