America's Warrior Partnership Welcomes TAPS to the Four Star Alliance

America’s Warrior Partnership announced today that the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), the nation’s leading organization providing compassionate care and survivor support services for the families of America’s fallen military heroes, has joined the Four Star Alliance, a membership program of vetted community organizations that provide therapeutic recreation and wellness programs to veterans, their families and caregivers.

“For the last several years, our Annual Survey has found that recreation is the most sought-after resource among veterans and their families, and the Four Star Alliance helps veterans find reliable recreational therapy programs,” said Jim Lorraine, President and CEO of America’s Warrior Partnership. “With their expansive network of military and veteran families, TAPS will help expand the Four Star Alliance’s reach to ensure the loved ones of our fallen service members have access to reliable wellness programs.”

Since 1994, TAPS has offered comprehensive support services to more than 90,000 survivors of fallen military in the form of peer-based emotional support, grief and trauma resources, seminars and retreats, youth programming, casework assistance and connections to community-based care. TAPS facilitates online and in-person support groups and offers a 24/7 resource and information helpline for all who have been profoundly affected by a death of a military loved one.

“For more than two decades, TAPS has been a leader in the study and support of individuals impacted by complicated grief and bereavement; building peer-to-peer and other critical programs for individuals experiencing the loss of a loved one,” said Bonnie Carroll, President and Founder of TAPS. “By joining the esteemed Four Star Alliance, we are advancing yet another opportunity to meet our families where they are and provide them with hopeful healing.”

The Four Star Alliance helps veterans select a trusted therapeutic recreation and wellness program by bestowing the Program of Excellence designation on its member organizations. Each member earns this designation by passing a vetting process conducted by America’s Warrior Partnership that considers fiscal responsibility, use of effective practices and level of satisfaction among those they serve.
