With 20 years dedicated to medicine, Ellington brings a wealth of knowledge to his industry, and in particular, to his area of expertise, pediatrics. When asked why he decided to pursue medicine as a career, Ellington said:
"I was drawn to the field for two reasons. It was a combination of intellectual curiosity and a desire to help people in my daily work. As my studies went on, I found maternal fetal physiology fascinating, and discovered that I liked the pace of intensive care medicine."
After serving as Director of Newborn Services at Lenox Hill Hospital for five years, Ellington was made permanent chair of the Pediatric Department in 2011. As chair, it is his mission to improve care to newborns by implementing new technological advancements and increasing organizational efficiency. He noted:

Dr. Ellington is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the National Medical Association, and the American Public Health Association. He is also an Assistant Professor at the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine.
