Will Morgan's New Book "Sawboy" is a Poignant Story Following a Young Boy Who Heads West on His Own to Escape the Influence of His Drunkard Father.
Recent release "Sawboy" from author Will Morgan is an engaging story starring Sawyer, a fourteen-year-old boy who loses his mother at eleven and rebels from under the tyranny of his alcoholic father, living a hardscrabble existence in Arkansas with his siblings until one day, "Saw" decides to change his destiny for the better, and sets off for the west full of dreams of a new life in New Mexico.
El Dorado, AR, July 6, 2018 (Newswire.com) - Will Morgan, an occasional ranch hand and former Air Force special agent who was born in Cooper, Texas, with the heart of a cowboy and now lives with his family in Arkansas, has completed his new book, “Sawboy”: a heart-stirring story of a boy who decides to change his own life.
Will shares, “He was standing in the road barefoot, with nothing but wagon tracks in sight. Sawyer was fourteen, getting close to fifteen, which was almost sixteen, so he felt nearly grown. He wasn’t lost, just on his own and sorta on the lam, headed for better days. Sawyer was the third child of Jake and Judith Stirling, both from near Phillips Landing, Arkansas (now Van Buren). Jake and Judy took off for near Fayetteville, Arkansas, after a big church wedding. Their bargain-priced farmland produced more rocks than kernels of corn. Jake went off to fight in a civil war skirmish at Pea Ridge in 1862, which left him with a bum leg when he dropped to a knee to fire his rifle and went down hard on a rock that fractured his kneecap, which didn’t heal right. It seems he also had a bum attitude from this experience, and he hit the bottle as oft as he could. He even sold their only plow mule to satisfy his vice. Jake and Judy already had three kids before this started, and they had been struggling to make it all along.”
