With over 50 years dedicated to law, Mr. Ziegler brings a wealth of knowledge to his industry, and in particular to his many areas of specialization, including the design of Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, and other estate planning documents, as well as guiding small and medium sized businesses in their formation and operation. When asked why he decided to pursue a career in law, Mr. Ziegler said:
"My professor came up to me and said ‘What do you want to do after you get out?’ And I said ‘I don't know.’ And he said ‘You oughta be a lawyer.’ And you know what came into my mind? Nothing. I'd never seen a lawyer, or known a lawyer, and none of my family had been educated. But I said ‘Hey, that's an interesting idea.’ And, you know what? It was my destiny to be a lawyer."
After earning his LL.B. Mr. Ziegler joined the law firm then known as Hughes, Clark & Lee, and became the Senior Member of the firm in 1968. From the beginning of his career, his practice continued to grow as he cultivated a reputation as one of the top Estate Lawyers in the Cincinnati area. Admitted to practice in both Kentucky and Ohio, Ziegler has extensive experience in Trust Administration and settling estates in Probate Courts, serving as attorney as well as executor.
During his tenure at Ziegler & Schneider, Mr. Ziegler has contributed to his profession by teaching as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Cincinnati College of Law, as well as staying involved in numerous organizations in his field. Not least of these involvmenets being his role as President of The R. C. Durr Foundation, Inc., a multi-million dollar foundation engaged in providing grants in the Northern Kentucky area for community development, including providing for children in need, food banks, and scholarships to three local universities. All told, the Foundation is responsible for as many as two hundred grants a year.
As a thought-leader in his industry, Mr. Ziegler keeps his finger on the pulse of prevailing trends in law. In particular, he is excited by the recent influx of young new talent entering the field and their focus on making a difference, a trait fully in line with his firm’s ethos. He noted:
