Upper Echelon Focuses Training on Collaborative Culture

At Upper Echelon, collaboration is the word of the day. The management team, led by Nicholas, has created an environment that boosts teamwork. He indicated that this effort is showing promising results.

Upper Echelon relies on its team’s ability to work as one and create the most innovative promotional campaigns. Nicholas, the firm’s director of operations, stated that the diversity of his associates enables some impressive creations; however, it can also make collaboration difficult without proper guidance. As such, he spends a lot of his time promoting unity.

“It certainly isn’t easy getting a diverse group to work as one,” Nicholas elaborated. “Still, it is worth every minute of my time because the benefits of collaboration are so significant. We are able to really get projects moving forward when everyone shares a sense of trust and respect. Additionally, we avoid obstacles caused by things like misunderstandings.”

He added that team building can help a group turn conflicts into growth opportunities. When interpersonal conflict devolves into argument, people tend to get hurt. However, if the people involved trust and respect each other, they can actively turn their disagreement into the chance to thoroughly discuss an issue. Nicholas stated that building those strong relationships must come first.

“Training also benefits from team activities,” he continued. “Our associates learn so much by working together. They share more knowledge and help each other with picking up new techniques thanks to our team building exercises. It has made a major difference to our coaching program at Upper Echelon.”

According to Nicholas, it has taken several small but influential changes to get Upper Echelon to such a team-oriented state. For example, he has imposed a hard limit of eight people on the size of teams. He has also reworked some of the company’s procedures.

“It would be counterproductive to tell everyone to be collaborative but not allow them to work as a team,” Nicholas asserted. “I spent a lot of time rethinking the ways we work. This included the tools we use as well as work practices.”

Communication was also an important part of this effort. According to Nicholas, his vocabulary has changed a lot recently. “Everything I say is about team success. Even the way I evaluate team members is focused on them collaborating. I make sure to always examine how the group accomplishes their goals instead of just focusing on the end results. It takes time but the benefits are worth it.”
