3 of the most important Latin Grammy nominees Indie rock bands from Mexico, embarks in a U.S. tour for the first time.
Los Angeles, CA, September 7, 2016 (Newswire.com) - For the first time some of the most important cities in the United States will have the opportunity to enjoy a one-of-a-kind concert tour that has brought together three of the most significant groups of the Mexican Alternative Indie movement. They will present their most recent productions without neglecting the hits that have earned them their place in the audience’s memory. The tour called Latino Indie Caravan 2016 will begin on September 22nd in Dallas, Texas, and conclude on October 3, in El Paso, Texas.
La Gusana Ciega, together with their audience, will celebrate their 20th anniversary since their first album, Merlina, was released. Two decades later, this band has had a successful career, 7 studio recordings, 2 live records and 2 greatest hits albums, among which some tracks stand out: “No me tientes”, “No puedo verte”, "Ella Estrella" and "Tornasol”. The band, founded in the 90s and consisting of Daniel Gutierrez (vocals / rhythmic guitar), German Arroyo (drums) and, since 2005, Lu Martinez on bass, is considered to be one of the most influential groups on Mexico’s new domestic front, and their most recent album has been nominated for the Latin Grammys as best rock album in 2015.
Porter is a group from Guadalajara where they formed in May 2004. They define their music through three concepts: alternative, independent and experimental. These tapatios are characterized by their avant-garde sound that led them to become one of the most emblematic rock bands in Spanish of the last decade. With a new line-up, Porter manages to captivate the stage with the best repertoire from previous albums, of course including tracks from their most recent production “Moctezuma.” Said record has been nominated as best album for alternative music at the 2015 Latin Grammys, therefore considered done of the 10 best rock albums of the year in Mexico.
Their videoclip "Huitzil" also obtained a nomination to the Latin Grammys and is part of a trilogy that consists of "Rincón Yucateco" and "La China" (which made its debut in July of this year), all of them being part of “Moctezuma.” All of their videos are conceptual and support the group’s deep and visual concept that will be a delight for the audience at Latino Indie Caravan 2016.
Siddhartha is undoubtedly one of the artists who has grown the most on Mexico’s rock scene during the last few years. One year after starting his career as drummer for the Mexican rock group Zoé, Siddhartha has started his independent career.
His work as a producer and solo musician has earned him the overall recognition as one of the most prolific musicians on the Mexican alternative indie scene, having received important awards. Siddhartha comes from Guadalajara and has earned several awards. His debut album Why You? Has been nominated to the Latin Grammys in the Best Rock Album Vocal category and won the award of “Best Solo Rock Album” at the Indie or Music Awards.
Later on, he earned a double nomination to the Latin Grammys with his album "El vuelo del Pez" in the categories of Best Alternative Music Album and Best Alternative Song for the track “El Aire.” As part of Latino Indie Caravan 2016, Siddhartha will present part of his most recent studio record called "Únicos," the fourth one in his discography and the successor to "El Vuelo del Pez"
