Thu Trang Dao's New Book, 'Saigon River: A True Story' is the True Tale of a Woman's Life of Joys and Pains Strengthened by Personal Faith and Courage

Recent release 'Saigon River: A True Story' from Covenant Books author Thu Trang Dao is a poignant memoir of the author's life during her time in her motherland and her unexpected voyage to a strange country following the war as a refugee

Thu Trang Dao, a dedicated writer and author hailing from South Vietnam, has completed her new book “Saigon River: A True Story”: a riveting retelling of struggles, heartwarming moments and fateful circumstances in Vietnam as well as in a foreign land.

The author shares, “We had been on the ocean for three days, but no one had come to rescue us. Though we saw many boats passing, they did not stop for us. I heard the men say that all the boats were afraid to stop because they thought we might take over their boats. The two children in front of me were crying more and more because they were so hungry. I looked at my bag to see how many crackers I might have left. I had a few small pieces of cracker that I had been saving for three days now. I thought, Should I give my cracker to help those kids out, or should I keep it for myself until the last day? I leaned forward and said, ‘Here, babies, this is all I have left to eat.’ Their mom looked at me and smiled. The boys were so hungry they were shaking just to hold onto the crackers. After they finished, they both went to sleep. I closed my eyes and prayed, ‘Please, God, please help us. In this boat are innocent children. Please help us. I know you can hear me because you have helped me before. Please help us now.’”

Published by Covenant Books of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, Thu Trang Dao’s new book is a candid look of a person’s revelation of harrowing and purposeful times that reflect life’s tendency for capriciousness.

This book also shows how a woman, whose life is plagued by violence, alienation and loss, strove to surpass her trials with the wisdom of unwavering faith, hope, and determination.

Readers can purchase “Saigon River: A True Story” at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, or Barnes and Noble.
