Gurnick Academy Awarded Via the CARES Act to Release Qualifying Emergency Grants to Eligible Students for Educational & Economic Hardship Due to COVID-19

Gurnick Academy is proud to announce that the school will be able to offer grants to eligible students via the CARES ACT. The grants will help students facilitate the smooth transition of their academic programs online.

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) was signed into law on March 27, 2020. One of the many important provisions of the bi-partisan legislation allows the Department of Education to direct funding to organizations, including Gurnick Academy, which provides qualified students direct financial assistance.

“We have applied for the maximum amount of student emergency grant funds available to our institution through the CARES Act.  These funds will be distributed, in their entirety, to all eligible students,” stated Burke Malin, COO of Gurnick Academy.

“Our administration and accounting departments have been working hard to prepare for the grant distribution process. The entire Gurnick team is working hard to expedite this activity for the students. This CARES Act ‘grant distribution project’ at Gurnick is entirely focused on helping students during this unprecedented crisis.”

Once the Department of Education releases the transfer of eligible funds, qualified Gurnick Academy students will begin receiving access to eligible CARES act funding.

“Our Financial Aid department will also be working with those students most impacted and further distribute additional funds in the second phase of this effort.”

The safety, health, and success of all students remain the top priority of Gurnick Academy during this national tragedy. As a provider of allied health, nursing, and medical imaging programs, Gurnick Academy’s classroom and lab simulation content is currently being delivered via an online learning platform. Gurnick Academy students remain fully supported in their academic achievement and can continue their respective programs of study unabated.
