The preparation started when Clair earned his Master’s in Education in Counseling and Guidance from Montana State University. He would go on to assist people and provide leadership beginning at Loma Linda University and moving up through a variety of management positions in health and human services.

One reason that assisted living is personal to Clair – years ago as a board member of Parkview Community Hospital Foundation he became friends with a fellow director while on a tour in the community. Three years later, Clair admitted his friend to the memory care unit.
“Dementia residents can’t tell us what they need,” Clair says. “We need to be in touch well enough that we can understand what they need.”
Staying in touch with resident’s families and the community he serves is something Clair does very well. Clair spends time touring and reviewing local living communities – including assisted living, independent living, memory care, and residential care homes. He meets one-on-one with families to assess their needs, accompanies them on tours of his pre-approved locations, assists them throughout the placement process, and follows up with his clients once the placement has been made.
