Every year, it seems as though Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales numbers have hit a new peak — only for that record to be broken just 12 months later. The cycle continues in 2017, with preliminary sales data trickling in for the year’s two biggest retail days. Sefati Consulting Group, an enterprise SEO firm, has weighed in with some surprising findings — as well as some predictions.

“A big part of our job is working with large and mid-sized companies, positioning them to capitalize on these big shopping days and to bring in conversions,” says Al Sefati, the founder of Sefati Consulting Group. “We can now report that our clients saw, on average, a 20 percent conversion increase this year over last.”

Sefati Consulting predicts further, continuous growth this shopping season, and encourages businesses to keep up with marketing trends to take advantage of this holiday.

In other words, 2017’s holiday shopping season has broken the record for online sales — a finding that’s confirmed by recent data from Adobe. “This holiday season to date (Nov. 1-24) shows $38.3 billion in online shopping revenue, 17.8 percent growth year-over-year,” Adobe finds. These numbers are closely in line with Sefati’s data.

This is great news for retailers, e-commerce stores and online marketers alike — and according to Sefati, it’s just the tip of the iceberg.

“Sefati Consulting predicts further, continuous growth this shopping season, and encourages businesses to keep up with marketing trends to take advantage of this holiday,” Al Sefati comments.

Of particular note is the need for a robust mobile marketing strategy; indeed, Adobe’s data suggests that mobile shopping remains a powerful consumer trend. “On Black Friday, Adobe says that 54.3 percent of retail website visits and 36.9 percent of revenue happened on a mobile device, with conversion rates for tablets up 13 percent year over year, and smartphones up 16.5 percent year over year,” claims Marketing Land.

“Local SEO, paid search ads and highly targeted social ads are just a few of the ways in which companies can tap into this growing demographic and position themselves for success in this record-breaking sales season,” Sefati concludes. “Of course, guidance from an enterprise SEO consulting firm can be make-or-break in these efforts.”
