River Expeditions Announces White Water Specials For Greenbrier PGA Tour Week

River Expeditions is thrilled to extend their annual Greenbrier PGA Tour Week specials into 2015. These packages features a full or half day of rafting on the New River Gorge and much more!

The PGA Tour has stops throughout the country, but one of the most important and historical stops is the Greenbrier Classic in southern West Virginia. This PGA stepping stone features a $6.3 million purse and some of the best names in golf from across the country for the weeklong event in the first week of July. River Expeditions offers golf fans an opportunity to not only watch the pros play, but also to spend some time away from the green and on the water.

“Golf enthusiasts generally come for the whole week of the tournament, so they usually have some free time to explore the other things that West Virginia has to offer.” Says River Expeditions owner, Rick Johnson. “Whitewater rafting is a great way to see all of the beauty of the area, while also embarking on a high-adrenaline thrill ride.”

The New River Gorge is home to both the New and Gauley Rivers and is a scenic and recreational destination for people of all ages and interests. In addition to whitewater rafting, the gorge is home to a number of outdoor activities – both on and off the water! River Expeditions features whitewater trips that can be customized for groups, depending on the experience level of the rafters – meaning that there is a trip option for everyone!

Whitewater rafting consists of traveling down a stretch of the river on inflatable raft. Trips usually last about 5-7 hours, including a break for lunch. Water temperatures in the summer are usually around 70 degrees, making for a truly refreshing experience. The ability to swim is helpful, but it is not required. Guest safety is the highest priority, and each rafter is provided with a Coast Guard approved Type V Life Jacket, Paddle and Helmet.
