Quantumem and Kazan Networks to Demonstrate Advanced NVMe-oF Technology

Quantumem's New EJBOF System

Quantumem Technologies and Kazan Networks today announced the demonstration of a break-through NVMe over Fabric (NVMe-oF) based storage enclosure showing both best-in-class performance and density.

Quantumem’s “LightHeart” flash storage is an ASIC-based NVMe Over Fabric (NVMe-oF™) Ethernet JBOF for Enterprise Datacenter SSD Form Factor (EDSFF). With a unique and innovative design for next-generation datacenters, this best-of-class performing storage, combined with EDSFF E1.L SSDs, achieves super-high densities.

This EJBOF (Ethernet-attached Just of Bunch of Flash) system is a standard 1U chassis supporting up to 32 NVMe-oF EDSFF modules. The internal hardware-focused architecture provides six (6) 100G uplink ports connected to high-performance PCIe NVMe SSDs with non-blocking access. Quantumem’s “LightHeart” can achieve performance topping 16 million IOPS (4KB random read), 66GB/s throughput (128KB sequential read), and reach nearly 1PB of data storage in a 1U space when using 30.72TB E1.L form factor SSDs.

Based on Kazan’s leading-edge NVMe-oF bridge ASIC, these JBOF systems showcase new levels of performance and storage density. The small size and extremely lower power characteristics of Kazan’s “Fuji” ASIC, combined with best-of-class performance, make it the ideal choice for this new high-performance, high-density storage solution.

“NVMe over Fabrics is expected to be widely adopted in the cloud data center and enterprise markets. We have achieved a new milestone towards building next-generation data center platforms and green energy datacenters,” said Donnie Dong, Quantumem Technologies Co-founder & CPO. “It has been a great pleasure to work with Kazan Networks on the leading-edge technologies in the industry. We are very excited about the system performance achieved.”

“Kazan Networks is extremely proud to be chosen as the NVMe-oF interface inside Quantumem’s innovative new product,” said Bryan Cowger, VP Sales/Marketing for Kazan Networks. “It has been a pleasure working with this incredibly hard-working and talented team, and this new system is a great example of what can be done with the right people and technology.”

Quantumem is demonstrating this new EJBOF “LightHeart” flash storage in their booth #942 at FMS. Kazan Networks is now ramping production of both its “Onyx” adapter and “Fuji” ASIC and is showing both in their booth #700.
