Placements 2015 at UPES

Flipkart Recruits 52 MBA Students from UPES, Dehradun. Read More

Dehradun, India

Established in the year 2003 by a group of prominent educationalists and industry experts, UPES is the first Indian university to offer 88 domain-focused programs and specialisations across 13 different sectors like Infrastructure, Power, High Technology, Design, Legal Studies and Information Technology. A decade into the academic domain, the university has now emerged as a key player in the business of quality education. With 8 constituent schools and colleges under the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) umbrella, the emergence, it would so seem, has only just begun. After all, the university does have a track record of consistently achieving more than 90% placements since the year it came into being.

Besides, if the emergence hasn’t begun yet, the placement sessions for the upcoming year can only hasten its inception. Barely a month into the process, a startling number of 500 UPES students have already found their next employers in companies like Nestle, IKEA, Accenture, IBM, Adani Wilmar, Infosys, Flipkart and SMIE. Moreover, these numbers are distributed evenly across all programs and sectors. Be it engineering, law or management, every department has come up triumphant with flying colours.

To put things in perspective here, it is worth mentioning that more than 40% of all MBA students at UPES; including but not limited to 90% students from the Logistics & Supply Chain Management program, 70% from the International Business program, 50% from the Port & Shipping Management program and 40% students from the Energy Trading program have been justifiably placed at best-suited positions.

A favoured online shopping destination for many, Flipkart itself has hired a total of 52 exceptional MBA students from the 2015 batch, taking the overall tally even further. As a matter of fact, the Indian eCommerce giant - now present across various verticals including movies, music, games, mobile phones, cameras, computers, home appliances, perfumes, toys, apparels, shoes, stationery, electronic goods, healthcare products and many more - made two trips to the UPES campus in Dehradun, procuring separate hauls of 23 and 29 students on both visits.

Here’s to the ones who made it happen. Here’s to the ones who wished for it.
