New Concept in Fitness Training Resonates With Five Out of Seven Top Fitness Trends for 2016

The top fitness trends for 2016 from ACSM have been released and the new training concept FIT36® uses five trends that appear in the top seven on the list. Now in three States, FIT36® provides a complete workout in 36 minutes

FIT36®, a new concept in fitness training developed by Fit 36, LLC, is taking fitness to a new level, resonating with five of the top-10 fitness trends recently released by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). The new franchise, now with studios in three cities, including Denver, Waldwick, NJ and Virginia Beach, Va., incorporates trends from the ACSM list that include wearable technology, body-weight training exercises, high intensity interval training (HIIT), functional fitness, and training by experienced fitness professionals to provide a complete workout in 36 minutes.

“2015 has been a great year for FIT36 and the annual trends list from ACSM gives us added confidence for 2016 that this brand is entering the market at the right time with the ability to deliver what today’s consumer is looking for," said Scott Wendrych, chief operating officer of WellBiz Brands, Inc. “One of the FIT36 mottos is, Modern Training for the Modern Athlete. Well, this list validates what the modern fitness consumer wants, which is HIIT training, focused functional movements and the energy of the group fitness environment. That is exactly what we deliver at FIT36.”

Wearable technology, which includes fitness trackers, smart watches, heart rate monitors and GPS tracking devices, tops the list of expected trends for the first time in the survey's 10-year history. FIT36® uses a heartrate sensor to monitor the heart rates, intensity level and calorie count of every member during a workout. The heartrate sensor can be used at any fitness center that has Polar® Club and HD screens and works well during HIIT workouts.

Another aspect of the FIT36® workout that ties into the ACSM list is that many of the movements within each class are body-weight training exercises. Body-weight training was listed at #2 on the 2016 list. Whether it is with TRX straps, jumps, squats or push-ups, body-weight exercises are commonly incorporated in the workout at FIT36® and are an efficient way to build strength.

After topping this list for 2015, HIIT remained in the top-three for 2016 with a third place ranking. The consecutive years of ranking at or near the top of the ACSM list shows that HIIT can no longer be perceived as a fitness fad, but rather a change in the way people are behaving. FIT36® is a 36-minute HIIT workout where clients progress through 12 different stations, twice, with brief periods of rest in between circuits. Each circuit involves 60 seconds of work and 30 seconds of rest.

At #5 on the list is an educated and experienced fitness professional. At FIT36®, each trainer will be educated and nationally certified in personal or group training. There is always at least one trainer in every class, with a client to trainer ratio no higher than 12:1.

FIT36® also incorporates #7 on the Top-10 list, which is functional fitness. It replicates physical activities someone might do as a function of his or her daily routine and is defined as using strength training to improve balance, coordination, force, power and endurance to enhance someone’s ability to perform activities of daily living. The FIT36® workout uses everything from kettlebells, slam balls and monkey bars to free weights, battle ropes and rowers. Clients use movements they never thought existed. At the same time, movements are self-limiting and resistance-focused to push each member in an efficient way.

FIT36® does not push people to do what they can't do. It helps people get better at what they can do. The wide variety of equipment and the fact that every exercise is changed up every two weeks keeps the workout interesting and challenging for clients.

FIT36® anticipates as many as 30 franchises will open around the U.S. by the end of 2016.
