Monumental Management, Inc. Team Attends Conference

Members of the Monumental Management, Inc. team kicked off 2016 by attending the quarterly conference in Texas. Managers cited this is one of the many networking events and road trips associates will attend this year.

“Travel is an essential part of our firm’s culture,” said Krenda, Monumental Management, Inc.’s Director of Operations. “It provides so many benefits to our associates and the overall team.”

Krenda extolled the virtues of networking at conferences. “One of the skills we really encourage at Monumental Management, Inc. is the art of networking,” she said. “There are many industry leaders at our quarterly functions, as well as top performers from other regions. All of these individuals help form the foundation of a successful professional network, especially for someone just starting out in sales and marketing.”

"There's a use-it-or-lose-it mentality that goes with these experiences,"

Krenda , Director of Operations

From a team standpoint, Krenda noted that quarterly conferences and other road trips help build a more cohesive group. “When people are outside of the office – more importantly, outside of their comfort zones – bonds tend to form,” she added. “This is especially noticeable when team members are experiencing something new for the first time.”

Once team members return to the office, Krenda suggested that it is important to encourage them to make goals to put their newly discovered knowledge and contacts to work. “There’s a use-it-or-lose-it mentality that goes with these experiences,” she said. “Therefore, we emphasize implementing new techniques as quickly as possible while the information is fresh.”

Monumental Management, Inc. Leaders Offer Networking Tips

As Krenda stated, the Monumental Management, Inc. team continually refines their networking skills. “We don’t just need to be good at making connections on the road,” she added. “This is a vital aptitude for our business.”

“One of the tips we suggest is trying to find common ground,” she added. “This is perhaps the most successful way to build rapport. Ask appropriate yet probing questions to learn about someone. Common ground could be mutual acquaintances, similar experiences or roles, and even shared interests.”

As the connection furthers, try to find mutual ways to assist each other. “Learn about what their business has to offer,” Krenda recommended. “Perhaps you might have another contact who is in need of this person’s services. Connect them and you’ll have two grateful contacts, centered on you.”

“The nice thing about conferences like the one our team just attended is that they provide our associates with opportunities to put their networking skills to work,” Krenda concluded. “This only makes them stronger when they implement solutions in the field.”
