Mark A. L. Mason to Deliver 2017 Charter Day Address

Washington, DC, February 24, 2017 (Newswire.com) - Howard University President, Dr. Wayne A. I. Frederick, today announced that Howard University Alumnus and Board of Trustee, Mark A. L. Mason will deliver the University’s 2017 Charter Day address.  The address is scheduled for 11 a.m., Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Cramton Auditorium on the University’s main campus.

Howard University is celebrating its 150th anniversary. This year’s Sesquicentennial celebration recognizes the historical milestones, achievements, and the positive impact the University has had since its founding in 1867. Other events will include the Charter Day Dinner and Sesquicentennial celebration. Grammy award winning artist, actor, film producer and poet Common is confirmed as this year’s Charter Day Dinner Master of Ceremony and entertainment will be provided by Grammy nominated singer-songwriter and producer, Tank.

Mr. Mason is chief financial officer of Citi's Institutional Clients Group (ICG), one of Citi's two core businesses, which had $34 billion in revenues and roughly $1.3 trillion in assets in 2016. Through its network of approximately 100 countries, the ICG provides global and local market access, financial products, services and solutions to multinational corporations, governments, institutional investors and ultra-high net worth individuals and families. Mr. Mason is responsible for all aspects of the ICG's financial management including strategy, planning and analysis, control, treasury and overall balance sheet management.

Mr. Mason attended Howard University where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in finance and graduated with honors. He also earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Harvard Business School.

The Charter Day Convocation at Howard University is an annual event commemorating the Charter enacted by the United States Congress, and subsequently approved by U.S. President Andrew Johnson, that established Howard University on March 2, 1867.

The Washington Hilton Hotel will host the 93rd Howard University Charter Day Dinner, with a gala reception scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Friday, March 3, 2017.
