LAB Miami Ventures is proud to announce the winners of the Future of Logistics Tech Summit 2018 Startup Pitch Competition, Kinetic and SimpliRoute.

The competition was judged by top professionals from the logistics industry: Karen Jones, EVP & CMO of Ryder System, Inc., Michael Zayonc, Founder of Plug and Play Supply Chain and Logistics, and Shane Neman, Principal at Neman Real Estate Ventures. Kinetic, who develops wearable devices to reduce workplace injuries for the industrial workforce, took first place and will receive $27k worth of prizes.

The Future of Logistics Summit was an incredible experience and really useful to Kinetic. It's rare to get in front of decision-makers of companies like DHL and Ryder, in such an efficient format. We also thoroughly enjoyed spending time with the other startups and learning about what they are doing.

"The Future of Logistics Summit was an incredible experience and really useful to Kinetic,” said Kinetic CEO and Co-Founder, Haytham Elhawary. “It's rare to get in front of decision-makers of companies like DHL and Ryder, in such an efficient format. We also thoroughly enjoyed spending time with the other startups and learning about what they are doing."

The People’s Choice Award, determined by popular vote of #FOLTECH2018 attendees, was awarded to SimpliRoute. The startup from Santiago, Chile helps transportation and last mile companies to reduce their logistics costs up to 30% with a powerful route optimization engine and machine learning modules.

“The event was a tremendous opportunity for us,” said Alvaro Echeverria, Director of Simpliroute. “We met great entrepreneurs and industry leaders and had interesting conversations with the Miami investment ecosystem.”

In addition to their pitch on stage, all of the startup finalists also participated in a full day visit to the corporate headquarters of the event’s sponsors, DHL Express and Ryder System, Inc. Both companies have started discussions with various of the participants to launch potential pilot programs.

Kinetic will be fast-tracked into the eMerge Americas startup showcase where they will be able to pitch again in Miami on April 29-30, 2019. Please follow @thelabmiami on Twitter and Facebook to stay up to date on any news regarding our past startup pitch participants.
