Keiretsu Forum Hosts Mid-Atlantic Angel Capital Expo With Early Stage Investors to Facilitate High-Quality Deal Flow

6th Annual Keiretsu Forum Mid-Atlantic Angel Capital Expo

Eleven innovative entrepreneurs – seeking funding for high-quality, diverse investment opportunities in sectors including technology, life sciences, consumer products, and energy/green solutions – participated in the 2018 Keiretsu Forum Mid-Atlantic Angel Capital Expo on October 17 at the Union League of Philadelphia.

The premier angel investor event in the Mid-Atlantic, each year the Expo provides a unique format for invited investors and breakthrough startups to network, collaborate and forge business relationships. "More than $75M in angel funding was provided to 148 start-ups by Keiretsu Forum members last year," reported Howard Lubert, Co-Founder of Keiretsu Forum Mid-Atlantic.

“Since 2011, Keiretsu Forum Mid-Atlantic Chapter has provided resources, mentoring and funding to entrepreneurs while delivering investor members with the highest quality deal flow and exclusive networking opportunities,” says Howard Lubert, co-founder of Keiretsu Forum Mid-Atlantic and South-East Chapters. “Last year our Chapter received 345 entrepreneur applications, and members provided more than $7 million in funding to 57 companies.”

Each presenter is pre-screened by a select committee of Keiretsu Forum members and Due Diligence Fellows and coached on their presentation in advance. This year’s presenting companies included: SFC Fluidics, BrachyThermix, Entvantage, OcuMedic, Carmell Therapeutics, ChromaTan, Stratus Digital Solutions, Phytonix, HCN, Portland Development Group, and Jinglz.

BrachyThermix LLC and Carmell Therapeutics were awarded the Stephen M. Goodman Most Valued Company award as this year’s Expo top presenters.

The event featured keynote remarks from Matthew C Le Merle, co-founder and managing partner of Fifth Era who discussed investment strategies for blockchain technologies, crypto-assets and other disruptive innovations. The expo also featured a panel on “Jockeys Not Horses–Getting Funded in Today’s Ecosystem.” Panelists were: Rob Neville, CEO, Savara Pharmaceuticals, Inc.; Bernard C. Rudnick, Managing Member, CapGenic Advisors, LLC; and Heather Steinman, Ph.D., M.B.A., VP Business Development & Executive Director, Technology Transfer at the Wistar Institute.
