"Something I'm keeping an eye on is the General Data Protection Regulation that's being implemented in the EU. I'm also really following the recent changes to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and what impact they're having, which hopefully is a good one. And then there's an upcoming expected change to the Federal Rules of Evidence 902 that I'm following as well."

With over 20 years dedicated to law, Ms. Hourigan brings a wealth of knowledge to her industry and in particular to her area of specialization, Information Law. When asked why she decided to pursue a career in law, Ms. Hourigan said:
"I moved to Washington, DC because that's where all my friends were in the early 90’s. It was a tough economy at the time and difficult for many people like me to land a full-time job. I ended up working at a temp agency that placed me at Williams & Connolly in DC, which is a fantastic law firm. I became employed as a paralegal there for a couple of years, worked with exceptional attorneys on really interesting cases, and I just couldn’t imagine doing anything but becoming a lawyer."
In addition to assisting clients with eDiscovery issues, Ms. Hourigan focuses on complex civil litigation, Records and Information Management, and Information Governance. She is actively involved in all phases of litigation, providing superlative counsel to clients regarding litigation preparedness and discovery strategy. Her experience is extensive and diverse. She has assisted Fortune 100 clients in designing and updating processes and policies for Records and Information Management Programs; worked with clients in pre-litigation settings on the development of enterprise-wide plans for the preservation and collection of information; and advised clients on spoliation issues and matters involving regulatory and compliance issues. She has also spoken at many CLE programs on issues related to E-Discovery.
As a thought-leader in her field, Ms. Hourigan keeps her ear to the ground, paying attention to current trends in Information Law. Currently, she is interested in new international regulations being passed concerning data privacy. She explains:
"Something I’m keeping an eye on is the General Data Protection Regulation that's being implemented in the EU. I’m also really following the recent changes to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and what impact they're having, which hopefully is a good one. And then there's an upcoming expected change to the Federal Rules of Evidence 902 that I’m following as well."
