What is DUI?
Operating a car, motorbike, or any other motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol is known as DUI or Driving Under the Influence, and it is one of the most common types of criminal charges in the nation.
"When alcohol consumption goes up, judgment goes down. Therefore, it is no wonder that when the decision to drive is made, the judgment is typically down, which leads to some incredibly poor choices," Jonathan says. He further explains that this is very much human nature and cannot change without planning in advance.
Jonathan's goal is to help his clients recognize that they have made a terrible mistake but that there is hope. "There is a path for self-awareness and self-improvement by finding solutions that ensure that this never happens again, that they don’t risk the lives of the community, their family and themselves," he explains.
What happens if you get a DUI?
The biggest concern of DUI offence is the impact of a criminal record and the chance of jail time. "With their recent criminal charges, the stakes are high," he says, "Their job is at risk. There are children and a spouse at home who are dependent on their income."
How can a DUI lawyer help you?
"I employ all of my 25 years of legal expertise to ensure that my client’s charges are either withdrawn or dismissed. This is done based on the ethical procedural strategy and good legal arguments and persuasion," Jonathan explains.
On the occasion of an unsuccessful case where an appeal is not recommended, he often recommends his client to retain the services of a pardon company to obtain a pardon, which can be done after five years.
He also gives practical advice on reducing the impact of the sentence on his clients, including helpful advice regarding shortening the driving suspension and crossing the border into the United States.
