Online, May 20, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Please join us for the first installment of #vnachat on Twitter, Wednesday, May 26 at 1:00 pm EST. Our hosts, Renee McInnes, RN, BS, CMC, and Joan Wright, CMC at NVNA and Hospice, will be available for a one-hour live discussion via Twitter to answer your questions related to caring for aging parents/grandparents.
During the summer, many college-aged children return home to the realization that their parents and grandparents are aging or may be affected by a medical condition that puts their health at risk. Similarly, families taking vacation suddenly realize their older parents or grandparents have become less active than they once were. It's during these summer months that concerns and questions often arise about aging and proper care for ones relatives. Renee McInnes and Joan Wright will offer advice and tips for adult children as they navigate the difficult path of caring for aging parents and grandparents.
During this chat, participants will learn valuable information, including:
• The many helpful local #South Shore programs available to assist in caring for aging relatives in their homes
• Signs of failing health including #Alzheimer's, #dementia and #depression -- and when you should be concerned
• Helpful tips for summer safety for the aging and #elderly
• The services offered by Visiting Nurse Associations and how to arrange for a visiting nurse for an aging loved one
• How to ensure your aging relatives are cared for when you go on vacation
