So many stories are coming out now which demonstrate how the law has held back protection for women, or anyone who has been sexually harassed. It's theoretically been unlawful for years, but the law hasn't been on women's side.

With over 50 years of experience dedicated to law, McKendree brings a wealth of knowledge to his industry, and, in particular, to his areas of specialization, complex civil rights, and criminal defense law. When asked why he decided to pursue a career in law, McKendree said:
"When I was in the Navy back in the day, there was no separate Naval Jag Corps. The captain of my ship assigned me to be the ship’s legal officer and I was sent to the US Naval Schools, Naval Justice, US Navy War College in Newport, Rhode Island. After going through that program, I was at sea for two years, during which time I did court-martial trials and defense. It felt like the right path for me."
Today, the Offices of John W. McKendree maintains a robust practice in the areas of criminal defense and complex civil rights, including labor and employment, wrongful termination, and employment discrimination. Additionally, McKendree has served his community in many capacities over the course of his career, including as a Municipal Judge.
As a thought-leader in his field, McKendree stays up-to-date on trends and changes in his areas of specialty. In half a century of practice, he has witnessed seismic shifts in many areas of the law; lately, he is noticing the nationwide changes in perception of sexual harassment claims:
"So many stories are coming out now which demonstrate how the law has held back protection for women, or anyone who has been sexually harassed. It’s theoretically been unlawful for years, but the law hasn’t been on women’s side: chances were, if you spoke out, you would be turned into the sexual aggressor, rather than having the law as a support. So that caused many people both male and female to stand mute since the path of legal relief was time-consuming, expensive and problematic. It is a blessing that society views are now attempting to address this prior injustice."
McKendree was named one of the “Top 100 Lawyers” by the The National Advocates. He is also a member of the American Institute of Criminal Justice Attorneys and the American Institute of Criminal Law Attorneys, among many other legal organizations.
