International Association of Women Recognizes the Contributions of Dr. LaVerne Adams as Washington, DC Chapter President

Dr. LaVerne Adams, Transformational Leadership Consultant at Total Life Consultancy LLC, has been successfully leading her Chapter

​​​​​The International Association of Women (IAW) recognizes the contributions of Dr. LaVerne Adams as Washington, DC, Chapter President. She is acknowledged as a leader in this role. The International Association of Women (IAW) is a global in-person and online networking platform with nearly one million members, 1000+ in person and virtual events, over 100 Local US based Chapters and International Chapters in several cities in China.

“I’m pleased to acknowledge LaVerne outstanding leadership abilities,” said IPDN President and IAW Spokesperson Star Jones. “Her knowledge and experience are valuable assets to her Chapter, its members and the local community.”

As President of IAW’s Washington, DC Chapter, Dr. LaVerne Adams has spearheaded its recent relaunch. Much of her success is due to her prior experience as President of the Philadelphia Chapter. In fact, due to her outstanding work with the Philadelphia Chapter, the IAW team asked her to help with the relaunch of the DC Chapter.

“I have had the privilege of relaunching two chapters. One in Philadelphia and one in Washington, DC,” Dr. LaVerne said. “It gives me great joy to serve as a mentor to women in these regions and provide them with content that helps them to achieve. I am passionate about supporting and mentoring professional women to attain higher levels of satisfaction and joy in their personal and professional lives.”

After holding an initial networking relaunch event, Dr. LaVerne and her leadership team have been busy planning upcoming meetings. The theme of the Chapter’s recent June meeting was 'Financial Stability for Professional Women' with guest speaker Milvia Garrido, a Financial Professional at Axa Advisors. Themes of upcoming meetings include 'Finding Confidence' and 'Tips for Business Plans.' 

Themes of upcoming meetings include ‘Finding Confidence’ and ‘Tips for Business Plans.’ Other ideas in progress include a monthly online contest for added exposure at meetings; a monthly business spotlight feature on the Chapter page; an IAW Washington, DC, Chapter app for phones; quarterly business events and networking mixers where the Chapter partners with local restaurants; a business expo; and collaborating with local schools and/or community groups for family-friendly event.

The DC Chapter also supports several local nonprofits. “As part of our mission to serve the community, the DC Chapter has established relationships with a number of local nonprofits that serve women trying to get back on their feet, including Calvary Women, House of Ruth and My Sisters Place, ” Dr. LaVerne added. “The funds we collect through registrations, raffles and donations go to these causes.”  The Chapter is also exploring volunteer opportunities at local soup kitchens, hospitals, schools, etc., and hosting a clothing drive for aspiring professional women and business owners in need.​

As a Certified Professional Coach who helps clients achieve their professional dreams and goals, Dr. LaVerne is a Transformational Leadership Consultant at Total Life Consultancy, LLC. In addition, for more than 20 years, she has offered her services as an Ordained Minister and Spiritual Leader. “I know firsthand how important it is for people to feel a deep sense of meaning, satisfaction and joy in their lives, and my work helps to facilitate this,” she said.

Dr. LaVerne is looking forward to continuing to grow IAW’s Washington, DC Chapter, and invites members’ input. “IAW’s programing is designed to cater specifically to their needs. The DC Chapter not only inspires and empowers members, it also offers them the valuable tools they need to grow personally and professionally,” she said. “If you want to hone your skills, there are still a few leadership positions available in our Chapter for those who understand the importance of taking advantage of a growth opportunity and making a difference at the same time.”
