Sondra Dellaripa spent the early years of her children’s lives as a stay-at-home mom working tirelessly at fundraising events for their schools. Although she didn’t plan it, fundraising eventually became her full-time passion. “When the time came for me to return to my career, I was drawn to apply to nonprofit positions,” she said. “I loved being able to help donors feel invested and involved in missions they feel are valuable and worthy. It is invigorating and inspiring to facilitate donor partnerships.”

Today, Ms. Dellaripa has more than 25 years of experience in nonprofit administration. Her professional experience includes Vice President of the ECHN Community Healthcare Foundation, Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, Director of Development for the Governors Prevention Partnership and Community Director for the National March of Dimes.

Since 2010, Ms. Dellaripa has been involved in the administration and governance of three companies. Her key roles include President of Harvest Development Group, a business development firm that serves the nonprofit sector; Founder of Blossom: The Virtual Incubator for Nonprofits, which offers training, coaching and other resources to nonprofit leaders; and as Principal Consultant at The Boardroom, serving nonprofit board development and leadership.

Using her skills and expertise in marketing psychology and communication, and her astute ability to connect with others, Ms. Dellaripa builds and nurtures relationships that help her demonstrate to nonprofits how she will help them succeed in their missions. “All work is based on understanding the other person’s perceptions, attitudes, and beliefs about your product, service, your leadership, your trustworthiness, your value,” she said.

Although it can be challenging to convince clients they can achieve their goals, Ms. Dellaripa and her team do all they can to make those dreams a reality. “Change is a big part of our work, managing change with our clients can be exhausting but also, when done well, is ultimately rewarding,” she added.

Ms. Dellaripa’s ultimate plans for the future is to eventually sell all three companies. But, realizing the important roles nonprofits play in our country until then she will continue to persevere in her mission to provide them with the tools and resources they need to succeed. “The nonprofit sector is a significant part of America,” Ms. Dellaripa said. “Over 1.5M nonprofits exist to serve the nation; nonprofits employ almost 10% of the American workforce and represent 5% of the national GDP. This sector is too critical to ignore. We want to raise the bar on their performance and show impact through noticeable outcomes.”
