My skill set is understanding the language of Equus, which is how horses communicate and helping my clients understand the biofeedback the horse is giving in response to whatever they are getting coached on. I am also a Reiki Master and a Certified Life Coach, so I do all of these things without a horse too, but it's much more fun with the horse!

While attending a weekend event sponsored by O, The Oprah Magazine several years ago, Jennifer Peterson heard Dr. Martha Beck, a Life Coach, speak. “I learned that there were 10 roads to take for your best life, but I wasn’t on any of them!” she said. “I was married to the wrong guy. I was not treating myself very well. I was in an abusive marriage, and I knew I deserved a better life.”

A few months later, through her job, she had the opportunity to bring Martha Beck Life Coaches into IKEA stores around the country to host life improvement seminars. She volunteered to be coached at one of the events and was greatly helped by the experience. Inspired by the Coach she worked with, Ms. Peterson eventually decided to pursue life coaching as a career. “It hit me that I should learn how to be a life coach!” she said. “I immediately went online to look up Martha Beck’s Life Coaching Certification program.”

In May 2016, Ms. Peterson founded True Freedom Life Coaching, LLC, where she is an Equine Energy Relationship Coach, a Certified Life Coach, and a Reiki Master. “My skill set is understanding the language of Equus, which is how horses communicate and helping my clients understand the biofeedback the horse is giving in response to whatever they are getting coached on,” she said. “I teach the women I work with how to transform their mindset and how their energy shows up in their relationships. I am also a Reiki Master and a Certified Life Coach, so I do all of these things without a horse too, but it’s much more fun with the horse!”

Since her career is quite unique, Ms. Peterson said it is sometimes challenging to explain to potential clients how partnering with a horse can help create healthier relationships. “But it is most rewarding when I see how peaceful and empowered my clients to feel and how long they sustain this because they can easily recall the lessons they learn about themselves from the horse because the experience is so visceral,” she said.

Excited about the future Ms. Peterson plans to create small luxury retreats designed for her clients. “I also desire to create a nonprofit organization that helps women and children heal from abuse through Equine-assisted programs,” she added.
