“I’m pleased to welcome Angelica into this exceptional group of professional women,” said IPDN President and IAW Spokesperson Star Jones. “Her knowledge and experience in her industry are valuable assets to her company and community.”
Inspired by her father who was an Engineer, Angelica Cuartas decided to pursue a similar career path. After obtaining a degree in electronic engineering, she worked as a Quality Engineer and Continuous Improvement/Management Systems Manager in a number of companies. For the past year, she has held the title of Operations Manager at EZ Roof, a Houston-based, full-service roofing solutions company.
In her current role, Ms. Cuartas is responsible for the overview of the company’s different processes, and improving and managing the main processes such as accounting, customer service, supplier management, human resources and general management.
“I am a fast learner, troubleshooter, team player, results driven and goal oriented, and an excellent communicator, organizer, leader and influencer,” she said. “All of these skills are necessary to be able to ensure the processes are correct, in place and being followed, and to maintain customers and increase customer service while providing products of the highest quality.”
In addition to a B.S. in Electronic Engineering from Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Colombia, Ms. Cuartas has an M.B.A. from the College of William and Mary as well as other industry certifications, including Black Belt Six Sigma, ISO Certified Internal and External/Auditor and API Certified Internal Auditor.
A native of Colombia, Ms. Cuartas noted, “Engineering is a male-dominated industry so my ethnicity and being a woman can be challenging.” Nevertheless, she continues to succeed in her career. As for the future, she looks forward to helping the company’s growth, keeping it profitable and strengthening its foundations. “I will support and nurture solid and knowledgeable employees who provide the best roofing and construction services,” she added. “I also hope to someday create other companies.”
