International Association of Women Inducts Rupal Patel Into Its VIP Influencer of the Year Circle

Rupal Patel, Controller at FSM LLC, is selected for her outstanding leadership and commitment within her profession.

The International Association of Women (IAW) honors Rupal Patel as a 2018-2019 inductee into its VIP Influencer of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in entrepreneurship. The International Association of Women (IAW) is a global in-person and online networking platform with nearly one million members, 1000+ in person and virtual events, over 100 Local US-based Chapters and International Chapters in several cities in China.

“I’m pleased to welcome Rupal into this exceptional group of professional women,” said IPDN President and IAW Spokesperson Star Jones. “Her knowledge and experience in her industry are valuable assets to her company and community.”

“I have always been strong with numbers and strategies,” said Rupal Patel, who credits her father with sparking her interest in accounting by involving her in the task of balancing the family’s checkbook. “He got me started on this pretty young, around the age of 14,” she said.

Ms. Patel recently joined FSM LLC in the position of Controller. "Previously, I worked for a dental practice where I was able to utilize and grow my skills to whole new level," she said. "I am very thankful to them for giving me the opportunity." In her current role, Ms. Patel is responsible for all accounting aspects of FSM, including payroll, 401Ks, accounts receivable and monthly analyses of company financials.

“Accounting is all about passion,” said Ms. Patel. “I believe if you understand how the company can or is making money, you can create financials as well as do analyses beneficial for the growth of the company. If the correlation is off, then re-evaluate your money-making process,” she said. Ms. Patel believes strongly that companies should recognize accounting as a value-added service, not a cost. “Accounting is the backbone of every company,” she added. “If you don’t understand your finances, how are you going be successful? Accounting requires investment and the return is remarkable because accountants show you how, when and why you need to cut costs or invest in your company.”

Currently, in the process of obtaining her CPA, Ms. Patel is excited about her future and hopes to one day become CFO of a company.
