House Call App Introduces Rideshare to Reduce Risks of Medical Travel

Opear MD partners with Nuride Transportation Group, allowing patients to sponsor their providers' healthy transportation to appointments

Opear MD, a New York-based house call and telehealth platform, has announced a strategic partnership with NuRide Transportation Group. Integrating NuRide's medical fleet dispatch into its app, Opear now offers providers a safe and healthy route to their daily exams.

Opear MD's apps ("Opear" and "Opear for Providers") enable patients to request house calls or telehealth appointments on-demand or in advance with a subscription pricing model. Rather than pairing a patient and provider randomly, as is the industry standard, Opear bridges the gap between digital and in-person care by allowing patients to choose their own provider.

With the introduction of the NuRide integration, patients will have the opportunity to sponsor their provider's safe ride to their home. Rides within Manhattan are priced at $75, with inter and intra-borough service priced at $120.

"It's our responsibility to protect our healthcare workers," said Opear's Founder and CEO, Michael Demetriou. "These providers are heroes on the front lines, and making changes like switching to house calls and offering safe medical transportation are important steps to reducing burnout and exposure."

NuRide Transportation Group is a New York-based transportation company that operates nationally. It maintains one of the largest asset-backed transportation fleets in the New York metropolitan area with the largest owned and operated wheelchair accessible fleet in New York. NuRide fleets service a number of large healthcare organizations and initiatives in the city. Proprietary and internally developed technologies, state-of-the-art transportation assets, customer service focused chauffeurs, and extraordinary efforts to provide COVID-19 safe rides are the driving forces behind NuRide's continued success even with the current pandemic.

NuRide's Chief Business Development Officer Robert D. Pearson celebrated the strategic partnership: "NuRide Transportation Group is excited to work with Opear in providing a transportation solution for safe and economical home healthcare services for patients.

NuRide's vehicle driver-passenger separation barriers along with stringent cleaning of the vehicles, driver protocols, and driver-issued PPE equipment ensures that the medical providers and patients can feel that their transportation is as safe as can be."

The 'Opear' and 'Opear for Providers' apps are available for free download for iOS and Android.
