FoodChain ID Offers Free Webinar on Food Hazards and FSMA Compliance

"Solving the Challenges of Complex Supply Chains"

Foodchain ID

FoodChain ID, one of the world’s leading food safety, testing and sustainability organizations, will host a free webinar titled “Solving the Challenges of Complex Supply Chains” to address supplier management, ingredient hazards, FSMA and GFSI compliance, and foreign supplier verification on Thursday, April 4 at 2 p.m. EDT. Registration is now open at: https://www.workcast.com/register?cpak=6509449887394306&referrer=FCID-US

Globalization has made supply chains more complex and challenging than ever. It’s common for food companies to have hundreds, even thousands of vendors in their supply chains, yet under FSMA rules, they’ll be held responsible for enforcing best practices throughout these complex supplier networks.

FSMA also requires companies to identify and manage all of the “known or reasonably foreseeable chemical, biological and physical hazards” in their ingredients.

In this free webinar, participants will learn how to use current technology to meet these challenges more effectively and efficiently.

Topics include:

  • How to research the food safety history of over 20,000 global suppliers
  • A way to identify food safety and fraud risks for an ingredient in a matter of seconds
  • FSMA requirements for managing foreign suppliers
  • How to prepare for and pass an FDA/FSMA audit

Presenter Rob Kooijmans is a veteran food safety professional who has worked in the food, feed and pharmaceutical industries for such companies as Unilever, DSM, FarmFrites, and TNO. He is the co-owner of FoodRecall.nl, a Dutch consulting firm providing support in food recall situations as well as training for preventing recalls. Along with his business partner, Kitty Apples, he has written the book FSMA Compliant In One Week. Kooijmans has an academic background in Applied Physics and Econometrics and extensive education in food safety, process technology and supply chain management.

Co-presenter Ron Stakland is global product director and subject matter expert for HorizonScan, a web-based software service developed by Fera Sciences, Ltd. that tracks food safety alerts affecting nearly 600 food commodities from more than 180 countries. HorizonScan™ is the most comprehensive database of its kind and is used by food companies to identify and assess potential food safety hazards in their supply chains, research the food safety history of over 20,000 suppliers and comply with FSMA and GFSI standards.

Stakland was a featured speaker at last year’s BRC Food Safety Americas conference and will be leading a panel discussion on supply chain risk management at their upcoming conference. He will also be speaking at the Food Safety Summit in Rosemont, Illinois in May.
