EIP US LLP Names Mallary De Merlier and Nick Transier as Co-Managing Partners

New Leadership Team Focuses on Expanding U.S. Presence of Internationally Acclaimed IP Law Firm

EIP US LLP is pleased to announce that Mallary de Merlier and Nick Transier have been named co-managing partners of the firm’s U.S. office in San Diego.

EIP is an internationally acclaimed, UK-based intellectual property law firm that opened offices in San Diego three years ago. The firm provides a range of services, from patent, trademark and design registration, IP searches and opinions, through to major European IP litigation. The San Diego office was the firm’s fifth office and the first outside of the United Kingdom.

De Merlier is a Registered U.S. Patent Attorney with over 15 years' experience in IP for the biotechnology and medical device industries. She has represented clients in a variety of fields including immunology, molecular biology, pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, diagnostics, and medical devices such as intravesical drug delivery devices, catheter assemblies, blood purification devices, and especially orthopedic bracing and support devices as well as surgical implants. 

Prior to entering law, de Merlier carried out research at Montana State University into the use of biological organisms to control weeds. She is a graduate of the University of San Diego (J.D.) cum laude and Santa Clara University (B.S Biology).

Transier is a Registered U.S. Patent Attorney with extensive experience drafting and prosecuting patents related to consumer electronic devices, computer software systems, distributed power generation, display technologies, telecommunications, and mechanical devices. Transier also leads up EIP US’ post grant proceedings team and has more than 7 years’ experience in patent litigation matters regarding mechanical devices, consumer electronic devices, video game systems, Assisted-GPS, and integrated circuit design.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Nick worked as a senior systems engineer on classified projects for Lockheed Martin and Raytheon. Nick is a graduate of the University of Texas (J.D., with honors) and the University of Virginia (M.S., B.S. Systems Engineering).
