Kathryn P. Rutenberg, M.D., Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital, Mount Sinai West

With 15 years dedicated to medicine, Dr. Rutenberg brings a wealth of knowledge to her industry and, in particular, to her area of expertise, Obstetrics and Gynecology. When asked why she decided to pursue a career in medicine, Dr. Rutenberg said:

"I was all over the place. As a dance major, I auditioned for Tisch School of the Arts in San Francisco, and that was a big deal. But I was there for a semester and decided it wasn’t for me. I always had an interest in medicine, because my father is a surgeon. I grew up watching him and he inspired me from a young age."

After completing her medical training, Dr. Rutenberg entered into private practice at St. Luke’s Roosevelt hospital and has since established herself as a one of the top providers of quality obstetric care in New York City. Today, she is widely renowned for her work with high-risk patients both during pregnancy as well as delivery. In addition to her work in obstetrics, she also performs minor gynecological surgery.

As a thought-leader in her industry, Dr. Rutenberg keeps her finger on the pulse of the latest advances in obstetrics. A big proponent of natural birthing practices, she seeks to provide her patients with all the information and support they require to make informed choices about how to move forward with the birth process. She noted:

"We are more innovative in our practice and our hospital, and we really champion natural birth and pride ourselves in our low C-section rates. That, I think, is our big selling point."

DrRutenberg is a Junior Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a member of the American Medical Association and the Medical Society of the State of New York.
