The Expert Network celebrates its newest member, Dr. Donald E. Jansen

Dr. Donald E. Jansen, Cardiologist, Emory Heart and Vascular Center at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, has joined The Expert Network, an invitation only service for distinguished professionals. Dr. Jansen has been chosen as a Distinguished Doctor based on peer reviews and ratings, numerous recognitions, and accomplishments achieved throughout his career.

Dr. Jansen outshines others in his field due to his extensive educational background, numerous awards and recognitions, and career longevity. He received his medical degree from Wayne State University, completed his Internship and Residency at Emory University, and his Cardiovascular Fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern. He also holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Public Health from the University of Michigan.

Dr. Jansen has received numerous awards and honors over the course of his career. He received the National Institute of Health grant in 1986 and 1987, and was named a "Top Doctor" by both Castle Connolly and Atlanta Magazine from 2011 to 2015.

With over 30 years dedicated to medicine, Dr. Jansen brings a wealth of knowledge to his industry, and in particular, to his area of expertise, cardiology, with an emphasis on heart failure and heart transplant cardiology. When asked why he decided to pursue a career in medicine, Dr. Jansen said:

"I went into medicine specifically because my mother was a nurse. I enjoyed going to work with her and realized that caring for people would be a very rewarding profession. Several of my college friends pursued medicine as well."

As a thought-leader in his industry, Dr. Jansen conducts his practice at the cutting edge of technological advancements in the ever-changing field of cardiology. Currently, Jansen is a co-investigator with two medical technology companies involved with developing new, smaller and less invasive devices for implantation in heart failure patients. He noted:

"The biggest trend we seeing right now is the development of LVAD devices which are less intrusive. These devices are implanted to keep patients alive while waiting for a heart transplant."

Recently, Dr. Jansen was involved in a highly successful symposium to help other cardiologists remain current on the technology available for optimal patient care. Jansen hopes to continue educating health care providers on the latest treatments for heart failure patients.

Dr. Jansen is a member of the American College of Cardiology, International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation, and the Heart Failure Society of America.
