C. R. Rae's New Book "I Never Wanted to Be a Princess—Good Thing! or How I Lost 380 Pounds Without Diet or Exercise" is a Wise, Funny, and Moving Memoir Chronicling the Next Chapter of the Author's Life.

"I Never Wanted to Be a Princess—Good Thing!, or, How I Lost Three Hundred Eighty Pounds without Diet or Exercise" from author C. R. Rae is a beautiful and witty memoir of a woman who learns to navigate the frustrating ups and downs of life—sometimes involving a sweaty towel and maybe a can of chocolate syrup—with verve, wisdom, and humor, in the process inspiring others through her anecdote

C. R. Rae, a nationally published writer, columnist, and speaker, has completed her new book, “I Never Wanted to Be a Princess—Good Thing!, or, How I Lost Three Hundred Eighty Pounds without Diet or Exercise”:  an entertaining true story that takes on common issues with uncommon grace.

Rae shares, “As I was walking down the aisle of the plane, I thought maybe this was going to be one of those stories where a brokenhearted woman meets Mr. Right on a flight. You have seen it in the movies. She sits there alone, and there is one seat left on the plane, right next to her. A handsome man of the unmarried variety says, “Excuse me, I believe this is my seat.” It is love at first sight.

You can imagine my shock when I was done thinking about the handsome stranger and the lonely downtrodden women from the movies to see I was in the middle seat between . . .well, uhh, there is no other way to put it than to say, “two old ugly dudes”––just sayin’.

So there I was, one dude with a ponytail, earring, and something growing on his face––or left over from breakfast: I was not sure which. The other one––well, it was hard to tell what he had for breakfast because his leftovers were hidden by his unkempt long beard, and as I turned to look out the window, I noticed the hair in his ears was growing to meet the beard. He smelled slightly of what I thought might have been old French fries. I was stuck for the next hour or so with my arms pushed into my sides as the men hogged the armrests and were hanging over on my side in more ways than one.

My shoulders slumped. I moved my feet to find a place to put them since they both had a foot in front of my seat and thought, “There is no Mr. Right here for me, just Mr. Leftover.””

Published by Covenant Books of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, C. R. Rae’s new book is a spirited collection of insights in the author’s life from childhood through college and marriage and beyond, where every commonplace catastrophe offers her—and the reader—another opportunity to learn or laugh, or perhaps both.

Rae writes with spunk and honesty, in a way that becomes encouraging to anyone who thinks they’re the only ones “sitting on the cold hard toilet seat of life.”
