Counterfeiting is a major economic concern, growing at the same rate as the economy. According to the Global Brand Counterfeiting Report 2018, total global counterfeiting reached $1.2 Trillion in 2017 and is bound to reach $1.82 Trillion by the year 2020. Luxury goods have been particularly hard hit, where a "10% loss of sales" has been reported.
