Saint Paul, MN, August 15, 2017 (Newswire.com) - Ms. Alyssa Nguyen, Founder & Attorney at Law, Nguyen Firm, LLC, has joined The Expert Network©, an invitation-only service for distinguished professionals. Ms. Nguyen has been chosen as a Distinguished Lawyer™ based on peer reviews and ratings, dozens of recognitions, and accomplishments achieved throughout her career.
Ms. Nguyen outshines others in her field due to her extensive educational background, numerous awards and recognitions, and career longevity. Ms. Nguyen graduated cum laude from the William Mitchell College of Law in 2004 and began her career working for a Senior Judge, providing the Judge with recommendations on how to rule on complex civil litigation cases. Her legal experience includes working for two prestigious law firms, for the State as a prosecutor, and for one of the country’s largest banks as an Assistant Vice President. Over the course of her career, Ms. Nguyen's industry-leading representation has earned her numerous awards, including being listed among the "10 Best" of both Immigration Attorneys (American Institute of Legal Counsel) and Family Law Attorneys (American Institute of Family Law Attorneys).
With over 15 years of experience, Ms. Nguyen brings a wealth of knowledge to her industry, and in particular to her area of specialization, immigration, criminal, and family law. When asked why she decided to pursue a career in law, Ms. Nguyen cited an experience working for the government as a prosecutor that inspired Ms. Nguyen to open a private practice to help immigrant communities:Even with a green card, you can lose your status as a permanent resident. People have to be careful about leaving, because there may be issues when they try to re-enter the country. That's why I have been advising clients not to make irrational decisions and think before you doing anything. Any kind of criminal record before leaving the country—coming back could potentially be an issue.
"I wanted to help people and help society. That has always been my primary focus. Coming out of law school, I worked for a judge, and then as a prosecutor. But when you work for the government, it’s easier to win, and even though you’re helping, you’re not seeing the other side of it. I think that in private practice on the criminal defense side and immigration defense side, you help more people and help more families stay together. It’s very rewarding when I win a case, particularly in the immigration arena, because when I win a case that means that have kept a family together. For me, it’s about the kids and the family members who suffer the consequences when their loved one is deported."
As a thought-leader in her field, Ms. Nguyen sees it as her duty to keep her clients informed on these matters, especially in these fraught political times. As harsher immigration enforcement has come into effect and immigrant communities across the United States have come under closer scrutiny, Ms. Nguyen notes that many immigrants, even those with green cards, have been leaving the United States. But as she explains, this can have a negative impact on someone’s immigration status, and she feels compelled to advise her clients accordingly:
"Even with a green card, you can lose your status as a permanent resident. People have to be careful about leaving, because there may be issues when they try to re-enter the country. That’s why I have been advising clients not to make irrational decisions and think before you doing anything. Any kind of criminal record before leaving the country—coming back could potentially be an issue."
