A Hole in One for Children During ANDRUS' 13th Annual Golf Fore Kids
Over $200,000 raised for ANDRUS
Westchester County, NY, June 9, 2017 (Newswire.com) - For one day, 140 generous supporters spent a glorious day doing good during ANDRUS’ 13th Annual Golf Fore Kids on June 5th. Over $200,000 was raised to help children and families through more than a dozen sites around Westchester County and support ANDRUS partnerships with local school districts.
Co-chairs James Black of Blackstone Heating & Air Conditioning and Steve Condon of Benjamin F. Edwards were delighted in the turnout and generosity of the participants. Their evening shout-outs included extra thanks to the event sponsors, including Benjamin F. Edwards, Blackstone Heating and Air Conditioning, Bleakley Platt, East Hill Cabinetry, Mercer, Mark and Jody Rollins, Barbara and Ed Smith, Sterling National Bank, and the Marty and Iris Walshin Foundation.
The Golf Fore Kids outing, held at the newly redesigned course at Siwanoy Country Club, was complete with 18 holes of golf, a buffet luncheon, cocktails, dinner, silent and live auctions and no rain. The Fund a Need focus for the evening was for developing an art room dedicated to the female residents at ANDRUS. A space just for the girls at ANDRUS to express themselves through art will be an additional programming element geared toward raising self-esteem and improving self-worth. As part of a range of therapeutic activities, including Sensory Rooms, Pet Therapy, NYPUM (ANDRUS’ minibike program), Ropes Course elements and more, ANDRUS is proud to increase the number of therapeutic options available to the children we serve.
ANDRUS is a nonprofit that offers a broad spectrum of preventative and restorative services to nearly 4,500 children and families each year from the New York Metropolitan area. It utilizes art therapy as one of its many techniques to help youth who live at ANDRUS and/or attend the Orchard School on the ANDRUS campus.
