Phillips Charitable Organizations Awards Grant to Single Parent in Maryland
Online, October 30, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Charmain Roundtree, a single parent from Maryland, has been awarded a grant from the Phillips Charitable Organizations to assist with utility bills and purchase winter jackets for her children. Phillips Charitable Organizations is a charity founded by Infor CEO Charles Phillips and his wife Karen Phillips, which is dedicated to helping single-parents in a time of need in addition to providing assistance to veterans and students who show particular interest in the field of engineering.
Charmain Roundtree is a single parent as well as a grandparent, who lives in Maryland. Because of financial issues Roundtree was unable to pay her car insurance and her phone bill. She was at risk of having her phone cut off and her auto insurance being cancelled.
Her financial issues became so tough that Roundtree was unable to afford winter coats for her children. With the inability to afford these necessities, Roundtree reached out to Phillips Charitable Organizations.
PCO awarded Charmain Roundtree with a grant right away, which allowed Roundtree to pay her respective bills on time. Additionally, she was able to purchase new winter coats for her children and grandchild.
PCO aims to award its constituencies with financial assistance as quickly as possible. Whereas other charities may take time to give assistance to those in need, Phillips Charitable Organizations prides itself on its expedited process. Because of Phillips Charitable Organizations, many of people like Charmain Roundtree have been able to avoid eviction and other penalties that can occur to many people during tough economic times.
Charmain Roundtree wanted Phillips Charitable Organizations to also spread the word about Metropolitan Baltimore Quadel (MBQ) that provides housing for low-income single parents. She recently relocated to MBQ housing and wants other single parents in Maryland to know that this housing program can be an option when other housing opportunities seem nonexistent.
Phillips Charitable Organizations is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit foundation providing financial help for single parents, students interested in engineering, and wounded veterans. 100% of the foundation's assets are disbursed directly to grantees.
