Google Awards $50,000 to TechBridge for Cloud Advisor for Nonprofits
Online, September 3, 2013 (Newswire.com) - TechBridge, a nonprofit that drives community impact by bringing affordable business and technology expertise to other nonprofits, is proud to have received a Google Community Grant of $50,000. The Google Community Grant will be used to fund a 'Cloud Advisor' on the TechBridge staff. The Cloud Advisor will be dedicated to:
- assessing nonprofits' feasibility of moving to the cloud;
- developing migration plans;
- performing cloud migrations; and
- providing an avenue for post-implementation support.
"TechBridge is thrilled to work with Google in creating awareness among nonprofits of the benefits of moving to the cloud and leveraging donated technologies," said James Franklin, CEO of TechBridge. "This generous grant from Google will enable TechBridge to provide the expertise and support needed to overcome the complexity that often prevents nonprofits from having business-class technologies like these."
Similar to the funding models for other TechBridge programs, the balance of the funding required for the Cloud Advisor services will be secured through earned revenue from the nonprofits served. The investment that the nonprofits make in adopting cloud technology ensures they take the steps necessary to fully implement cloud services within their organizations. The fee structure of the program is designed such that when the services provided expand, the limited fees provide for the incremental expenses of the program and ensures its long-term sustainability.
"Google believes in the importance of supporting the nonprofit community through smart, sustainable programs. We provide accessible and affordable business tools and resources to run their organizations as effectively as possible to maximize their impact," said Jason Wellman, Google data center operations manager in Douglas County. "TechBridge understands how to adapt business solutions for the nonprofit sector making them an ideal partner."
