Winners Announced in Poetry Idea Contest

RALEIGH, NC, April 27, 2010-Living Poetry, a not-for-profit poetry group based out of Brier Creek, announced the winners of their first-ever Idea Contest today on Claudio's Speakeasy show on Carrboro Community Radio 103.5FM.

Raleigh-Durham Poetry Contest Winners

The Idea Contest was organized to find new ways of incorporating poetry into Triangle-area communities. Winners receive gift certificates of varying values to a local book store of their choice. The winners are:

1st Place - Terry Fitzgerald - Organize a Poetry Retreat
2nd Place - Abbie Kiefer, Amy Donnelly, Barbara Bales, Rosalyn Marhatta - Online/Electronic Poetry Forum and Critique Sessions
3rd Place - Bruce Lader - Organize a Poetry Book Club

Dan Yuschick - Open a Poetry Cafe

Best Community Idea
Abbie Kiefer and Roshan - Cross-Art/Generation Cooperation

Living Poetry Organizer, Angelika Teuber, said, "We hope to hold more contests like this in the future as membership grows." Teuber founded the group with one monthly poetry reading a year and a half ago. She said, "The local poets in the Triangle continue to impress me. I'm looking forward to providing more events for all to enjoy!"

Poetry Events in North Carolina

In addition to scheduled readings, workshops and Poet Local events, Living Poetry will be featuring the winners' ideas, such as field trips, throughout 2010. All events are free and open to the public. The next Poet Local event is on May 16th and features Grey Brown.
