Ways & Means Oyster House Selects HHLA as Its Premier Los Angeles Location

Award-Winning Restaurant Concept Expands its Innovative Flavors at an L.A. Landmark

Los Angelenos are finally getting their own Ways & Means Oyster House. Slated to open in the Summer of 2019, the iconic restaurant concept has chosen HHLA to house its first ever Los Angeles destination. The new Ways & Means location will be situated alongside several lauded restaurants, bars, shops, and world-class cinemas within HHLA’s newly innovated entertainment center.

“As a company, one of our priorities as we expand is to become part of the new story of historic properties such as HHLA,” says Dena Mathe, president of Ways & Means Oyster House. “The vision of the Festival team, as well as the growth of the community which the center serves, keeps this location in line with our goals of operating our restaurants in the most iconic sites west of the Mississippi. This is a bit of a homecoming for us – we personally have family and friends who live in the area who are equally excited about us opening at the center. Just as the center and the surrounding neighborhood has evolved, so will our brand at this new location. Under the design influence of our architectural team at CIDA, we look to adapt our restaurant environment to capture some of the personality and energy of our new home at HHLA. We look forward to serving Angelenos – Any Way and by All Means.”

The Festival Companies is happy that Ways & Means recognized the opportunity that HHLA presents for their flagship LA location. The history of Howard Hughes paired with the location and timing of this iconic redevelopment, which sits along 1,200 lineal feet of the 405 Freeway, is second to none. As a native Angeleno, I passed this site many times as a kid on my way in and out of LAX.

Robin Bhalla, VP of Leasing

Known for its diverse offerings of raw and dressed oysters, as well as a seafood menu that includes a signature Maine Lobster Roll topped with “Life-Altering Aioli,” (voted one of the best lobster rolls in the country) the restaurant is a shining example of the high-caliber, unique, and head-turning businesses that will make up the LA-inspired morning-to-late-night center. To celebrate its HHLA grand opening, Ways & Means will follow its tradition of teaming up with local first responders for a special “Shuck It” oyster-eating event to raise money for charitable partners.

“The Festival Companies is happy that Ways & Means recognized the opportunity that HHLA presents for their flagship LA location,” says Robin Bhalla, vice president of leasing of The Festival Companies. “The history of Howard Hughes paired with the location and timing of this iconic redevelopment, which sits along 1,200 lineal feet of the 405 Freeway, is second to none. As a native Angeleno, I passed this site many times as a kid on my way in and out of LAX.  And now with the emergence of Silicon Beach, which accounts for 86 percent of the nearly 700 tech firms in Los Angeles, along with everything going on with the Hollywood Park area and the new Rams/Chargers stadium just to the south, we truly are the portal to LA and where everything starts!”

The opening of Los Angeles’ first Ways & Means Oyster House will follow a $30 million reimaging of the landmark property that includes a completely walkable design, set to a locally-inspired modern aesthetic.

Stay tuned for more exciting additions and announcements from HHLA in the coming months.
