Video Accounting for More Social Engagement on ESPN for Top 10 U.S. Sports Media Properties for October 2016

​​​Shareablee today announced the top 10 U.S. Sports Media Properties rankings for the month of October 2016, as compiled by the company’s social media measurement services. The rankings, which includes all sports-related media properties’ main flagship and ancillary pages, reflects an average of 9.1 million total actions, a 14% increase month-over-month. Business & Finance, Fashion & Style, Women’s Interest Media properties grew only 6-8% respectively in the same time period. Rankings are based on Total Actions (reactions, comments, shares, and retweets)across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Youtube (excluding views). Video accounted for an average of 3.4 million of all social actions taken on content published by Sports Media in October.  

ESPN maintained its number one position overall with 168 million total social actions, generating the most engagement of any sports media publisher on Facebook (over 25 million total actions), Twitter (13.4 million total actions), and Instagram (over 128.7 total actions). That total represents a 12% month-over-month engagement increase. ESPN also had 83.8 million views, a 25.8% increase month-over-month. The increases were boosted by the seven-game World Series played in October. Facebook videos views grew 26% month-over-month to 84 million views in October.

Bleacher Report generated the most total video actions with over 55 million, nearly 62% of its total engagement in October. The Network won top position for video views on ranking garnering  244 million video views on Facebook and Youtube. Whistle Sports follows Bleacher Report with 182 million views. Whistle Sports was also the most engaged sports media brand on YouTube with over 2.7 million actions.
