Victor A. Mirontschuk, FAIA was one of only 149 American Institute of Architects (AIA) members recently elevated to its prestigious College of Fellows. This honor is awarded to members who have made significant contributions to the profession.

Mr. Mirontschuk was elevated for having advanced the science and art of planning and building by advancing the standards of architectural education, training and practice. He was elevated as a pioneer in, and influential advocate for, higher density housing, combining planning and architecture to design environments that promote social interaction and create community. His innovations have established new standards across the country.

The Fellowship program was developed to elevate those architects who have made a significant contribution to architecture and society and who have achieved a standard of excellence in the profession. Elevation to fellowship not only recognizes the achievements of architects as individuals, but also their significant contribution to architecture and society on a national level.

Out of a total AIA membership of nearly 88,000, there are fewer than 3,200 distinguished with the honor of fellowship and honorary fellowship. The elevation to fellowship is conferred on architects with at least 10 years of membership in the AIA.

Mr. Mirontschuk earned his Bachelor of Architecture in 1974 and his Bachelor of Architecture in Urban Studies in 1972, both from the University of Arkansas School of Architecture in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He started his own firm, EDI International (formerly Evolution Design, Inc.) in 1976 and has been a member of the AIA since 1977.

With offices in New York, Houston, and the San Francisco Bay Area, California, EDI is a global architecture, interior design and planning firm specializing in commercial, leisure, hospitality, residential, planning, and landscape projects. The firm’s commitment to unconventional design, technology, and quality has been recognized by nearly 150 industry awards for excellence in design and planning.
