Urban Focus Announces Hiring Initiative
The leadership team at Urban Focus is looking to fill several positions with career-oriented people. The firm's director outlined her strategies for attracting and hiring great teammates.
Lincoln, NE, August 28, 2015 (Newswire.com) - “I’m extremely proud of the growth we’ve been experiencing here at Urban Focus, and the quality of the campaigns our associates have been producing,” explained Lauren, the company’s director of operations. “I work with a stellar team, and I appreciate that fact every day.”
It is with this sense of gratitude for the people she works with and their importance to Urban Focus’ success that Lauren announced a drive to fill several positions at the sales marketing firm. “Bringing on new talent is exciting!” she said. “This is a great place for career-minded people to find long-term satisfaction. However, I take the idea of adding to our existing team very seriously. We’ve worked hard to build the right culture, and whoever we bring on board has to add to that in a positive way.”
"We take very specific steps to make working here a terrific experience,"
Lauren, Director of Operations
The attractiveness of Urban Focus’ culture is one of the main reasons Lauren and her management team are able to be so selective. “We take very specific steps to make working here a terrific experience,” she explained. “For example, we treat everyone – ourselves and the people with whom we work – respectfully at all times. Also, every position presents a clearly-outlined path into upper management. We promote based on results, encouraging ambition.”
Urban Focus’ Director Shares Hiring Practices
“Of course, now that we have made working at Urban Focus an appealing opportunity, the next step is to engage in hiring strategies that allow us to select only the best candidates,” Lauren explained. She went on to share that there are four tactics she uses to ensure that only the most talented applicants are on boarded.
First, Lauren employs resume-screening software to help her quickly find the most qualified individuals. Then, a variety of assessment tests help narrow the potential hiring field down even further – all before the interview process has even begun.
Once an individual is invited to interview, Lauren asks him or her to share specific instances in which his or her talents were put to good use. “What I want to know is how the candidate behaved under pressure or in a variety of circumstances in the past. Knowing this allows me to make some predictions about how he or she might act in the future.”
Lauren also creates mockups that mimic what an applicant can be expected to encounter during the course of an average workday, further illuminating the way a person might behave as an Urban Focus associate.
“It’s an involved process, but one I feel produces the best results for the team,” Lauren stated. “In my opinion, our continuing success and expanding influence are proof that our efforts are worthwhile.”
